Kapamilya star Paulo Avelino have expressed his disappointment over the limited release of his film with Maja Salvador, “I’m Drunk, I Love You.”
On February 13, a disappointed Avelino revealed that “Drunk” was released to only 60 cinemas.
He wrote: “Just 60 cinemas for I’m Drunk I Love You? I strongly believe this film is worth more.”
The actor also tagged MTRCB board member Mocha Uson’s account in his next tweet. He asked why Philippine cinemas prioritize international films instead of the local ones.
“Bakit nga ba hindi inuuna ng mga lokal na sinehan ang mga Pelikulang Pilipino kesa sa Dayuhang Pelikula? Gawin sanang Batas,” he said.
Meanwhile, at the blogcon for “Drunk,” Avelino stressed that he was happy for there are more Filipino films that have been shown in cinemas recently.
“Ako, Masaya ako kasi maraming pelikulang Filipino ang lumalabs,” he said.
Unfortunately for “Drunk,” people have seen it as a typical indie film. Hence, only few cinemas were showing it up to this date.
Moreover, 2 days after its premiere night, the TBA produced film saw a major decline as it was shown to 33 cinemas only.
