Jim Paredes, a known avid supporter of the Liberal Party, already issued an apology after Cynthia Patag posted on Facebook the supposed to be a private conversation with Jim’s wife Lydia Paredes regarding the death of Noli Asensio.
Cynthia and Jim were both criticized by the netizens for linking the death of Noli to extra-judicial killings. The story was immediately debunked by Noli’s daughter Nicole Laurel Asensio and slammed the two for disrespecting the grieving of Asensio family. According to Nicole, she was with Mr. Asensio until the last hours of her father. She condemned the people who used her father’s death for political schemes.
Friends of Asensio family including Lea Salonga was also disappointed and said that Patag disrespected the dead. She commented on Iwi’s post on Facebook, “What the actual f***!!! Have they no respect for the dead and the grieving?”
