After the release of LionhearTV’s article on the upcoming series “Alyas Robin Hood” starring Dingdong Dantes, netizens were quick to accuse the newest Kapuso action drama series of being a copycat to the well watched American TV series “Arrow”.
Netizens can’t help but call out GMA network for allegedly imitating the famous American TV drama. And their basis, the supposed “Alyas Robin Hood” poster patterned from the the poster of Arrow which has gone viral.
But LionhearTV would like to clarify that the featured image on that article is not the official poster of the upcoming Dingdong Dantes series. It was a fan-made art attached to the article to add visuals and not intended to confuse readers as the real series poster.
Unfortunately with the fast-paced world of social media and the internet, the photo was circulated with the logo of Lionheartv (purposely?) omitted thus confusing readers.
But taking out the picture the fan-made art poster, is “Alyas Robin Hood” really a copycat of “Arrow”?
In Facebook post which eventually led to a heated exchange over the comment section, GMA Network’s concept developer and creative consultant Suzette Doctolero brushed off speculations that their newest action drama series is an imitation or a rip-off of the hit American TV series “Arrow”.
Doctolero which also acts as the head writer for “Encantadia” said, “Alyas Robin Hood’s” story is inspired by the famous classic story of Robin Hood and not of “Arrow’s.”
She said the story of Robin Hood is of public domain thus can be used as base story for a spin off just like what Arrow did and what they will do for Alyas Robin Hood.
“Dear everyone, paglilinaw, ang alias robinhood ay hindi pa naipapalabas kaya maari bang malaman kung gaano kayo katiyak na ito ay hango sa arrow?
Ang arrow po ay hango sa kwento ni robin hood. Isa itong public domain story, meaning pwedeng paghalawan ng mga kwento. Kaya ang alias robin hood ay mula sa robinhood at hindi po sa arrow na komopya din sa robinhood” , she said.
In an interview with Pep.ph, Doctolero shared, while “Alyas Robin Hood” is a social realism action drama its story is very far from Arrow’s.
