- Marian Rivera Dantes’ parody account, @superstarmarian tweeted a controversial opinion regarding the ongoing issues involving the current administration.
- Marian called out the said parody account, asking it to stop using her name to gain attention.
Another struggle celebrities face regularly is the threat of having ‘posers’. Search for your favorite celebrities’ name on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and you’re sure to find endless search results, all of which claiming to be the ‘real’ deal.
In the case of Marian Rivera Dantes, it wasn’t a poser she had to call out. It was a parody account on Twitter that has been poking fun at her all these years.
The account started after Marian made a mistake on national TV while campaigning for former president Benigno Aquino. The actress unintentionally said ‘Ako po ay isang psychology’ instead of ‘Ako po at isang psychology graduate’. Since then, the actress’ lack in proficiency in English became a laughing stock.
The said parody account has been tweeting grammatically incorrect posts to make fun of Marian.
All this time, the actress never really seemed bothered by the parody account. However, on August 19, @superstarmarian tweeted ‘U warned us there will b blood. So pde b, ung 16 million lang na bumoto sayo ang patayin mo? Because the rest of us didn’t sign up for this’.
Marian posted the screenshot on Instagram and clarified that she does not own a Twitter account. She also urged the person behind @superstarmarian to stop using her name.
