- Nobody can deny the hype of Kdrama [Korean drama] in the country today as these send fanatics to addictedly glued on their TV sets or gadgets watching either advance episodes or re-runs of their favorite Kdrama series.
- Even local celebrities like Anne Curtis can’t help but gush over these good looking Korean men in Kdrama series. She might even appear in a movie with her ultimate crush, Gong Yoo soon.
- But with the sudden rise of Korean actors in the country, how do our local actors feel when these Koreans finds work opportunities in the country at the expense of Filipino actors?
The sudden rise of the K-drama [Korean drama] leaves us all in what seemed like a romantic-dreamy state. From Pinoy-adaptations to Tagalog dubbed K-Drama, everyone seems like bitten by the love bug awaiting her Oppa.
Nobody can’t deny the existence [as well as the hype] of the Kdrama fever as it sets the entire nation by storm and head-over-heels ‘kilig’ with Kdrama stars.
After Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wok from the hit ABS-CBN’s primetime series “Goblin,” here comes another Kdrama that Filipino’s couldn’t get enough of, it’s called “Weightlifitng Fairy,” also airing on ABS-CBN. The said Kdrama is topbilled by Nam Joo Hyuk.
Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis even made a post about it on her social media accounts. She said that although she’s not being paid to ‘endorse’ the said K-Drama, she had shared it on her account because she truly loved the story of “Weightlifting Fairy.”
The question now is how do our local actors or talents feel that they seem to be losing job as the producers are more after popular Korean actors than local ones?
Observers say that Filipino fans are interested on Korean actors because they seem to have some kind of mystery whereas when compared to our local actors, they’re more open to the public because they seem to share everything about themselves through their social media accounts.
Thus, there’s no more mystery which in effect the fans are most likely to lose interest in them.
But just like the Meteor Garden [a popular Taiwanese drama] craze which had also hit the country by storm back in the late 90’s, eventually, these Kdrama hype will soon die on its own. Until such time, the local actors had to do something so that the fans will not lose their interest on them.
