Who would have thought that ABS-CBN would release its third installment for its ‘Moonstone’ franchise?
Well, the strong debut of “La Luna Sangre” became the newest headache of GMA Network. “Mulawin VS Ravena” and “My Love from the Star” figuratively became instant dog foods of the hungry wolves.
Obviously, Kapamilya stars emerged as the winners of this week’s Showbiz Wedge because of the instant success of “La Luna Sangre”. But who among these Kapuso stars faced the catastrophic supremacy of this third Moonstone franchise? Let’s find out.
Above them all!
Angel Locsin, John Lloyd Cruz, and Richard Gutierrez were undeniably the most-talked-about stars last week. Thanks to “La Luna Sangre”, ChardGel fans were able to see their idols reunited for the first time after 10 years.
And although the reunion lasted for only about 3 minutes, Richard and Angel have proven that they can still butcher any rival love teams in just a snap of fingers.
Their epic encounter with each other, dated June 23, became one of the most-talked-about moments on primetime; it also generated a lot of memes online.
On the other hand, “La Luna Sangre” marks the reunion of John Lloyd and Angel after their 2011 series “Imortal”. Matteo and Lia’s moments, especially their intense fight scenes with the vampires, became the highlight of the show’s first week.
The pilot week of “La Luna Sangre”, starring these three big Kapamilya stars, has led to a unanimous decision by AGB Nielsen and Kantar Media that the series was the overall winner against its rival “My Love from the Star”.
PARTIDA: For those bigoted Kapusos who label Angel as “Tengga Queen” due to her lack of TV appearances, please remember that Angel could crush her rival shows anytime she wants — just like what she did to “My Love from the Star”. Participation pa lang ‘yan, mga besties! Wala pa s’yang regular show. What more kung mayroon na? So, be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.
The falling stars
Aside from her mediocre death in “Mulawin VS Ravena”, Heart Evangelista’s exit from the show failed to make an impact on both television and online world. Prior to her lame exit from the show as Alwina, “Mulawin VS Ravena” had been kneeling before Cardo Dalisay, as “Ang Probinsyano” consistently victimized her show as per AGB Nielsen’s and Kantar Media’s data.
From June 19 to June 20, “Ang Probinsyano” effortlessly prevented “Mulawin VS Ravena” from flying in the ratings game. On June 21, Alwina took her last breath in the series. Little did she knew, the episode would be the second-lowest rated one for “Mulawin VS Ravena” last week.
Meanwhile, Kapuso actor’s Dennis Trillo remains the series’ biggest star. Heart’s exit from “Mulawin VS Ravena” has probably given Dennis extra pressure as he is now the only anchor of the show. Unfortunately, for Dennis, the original Alwina and Aguiluz enjoyed the pilot week of “La Luna Sangre” while “Mulawin VS Ravena” os suffering in the hands of Coco Martin until now.
Perhaps, “Mulawin VS Ravena” is the most expensive mistake by GMA Network. What do you think?
