Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin has shown her angelic side once again, as the former’s photo in Marawi City have surfaced online.
The 32-year-old, who describes herself on her own Instagram page as “Volunteer, Activist, Film & Television Actress,” along with the group Rural Missionaries of the Philippines (RMP), visited families displaced by the fighting in Marawi City.
According to a Facebook post by Kathy Yamzon, secretary general of Bayan NCR, Angel and RMP went to an evacuation center in Ma’had Alnor Al-Islaime, Block 8, Purok 5A, Ceanuri Subdivision in Tomas Cabili, Iligan City on June 8. The group distributed packed foods and school supplies to the 283 individuals.
Northern Mindanao Region and Kalinaw Mindanao released photos of the said visit, which showed the actress wearing a hijab and interacting with evacuees in Baloi, Lanao del Norte.
In addition, RMP revealed on their statement: “She (Angel) then went around other nearby evacuation centers to check on their situation as well. She will later on be visiting another evacuation center to join the evacuees for iftar (breaking of fast).”
Meanwhile, Neil Arce, Angel’s rumored boyfriend, proudly shared a photo of the of the actress’ identification card as Mindanao volunteer for the Talk Group Emergency Preparedness Response on his Instagram account.
He wrote on the caption: “You don’t need to wear a costume to be a super hero.” The caption was a reference to superheroine Darna, the iconic character created by Mars Ravelo and was portrayed by Angel in 2005.
The “La Luna Sangre” actress was supposedly going to portray the modern version of “Darna” under Star Cinema. However, due to her spinal injury, Angel officially stepped down and passed the role to Liza Soberano.
While her fans were saddened over Star Cinema and Angel’s mutual decision, the actress’ concern over her kababayans in Mindanao is enough proof that Angel is indeed, a superhero — whether she wears a costume or not.
