- International star Lea Salonga and actor Aga Muhlach was first paired on-screen via the 1992 movie Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal together with singer Ariel Rivera. The movie became a hit that three years after they did another movie together, Sana Maulit Muli.
- The reunion film Sana Maulit Muli was partly shot in the United States and it was well accepted by the public. There have been rumors before that the two were playing beautiful music together but was cut short because Lea had to fulfill her commitments abroad.
- In July 2015, ABS-CBN did a restoration on the film Sana Maulit Muli and it was digitally re-mastered. Since then, there was a clamor for another movie project for Aga and Lea.
- Another set back was Lea and Aga’s struggle with their weight after the two got married with their respective partners. While Lea was successful in shedding her excess pounds, Aga still needs to further motivate himself to lose the unwanted pounds.
Lea recently shared on her Instagram selfie with Aga that they are still hoping to do a reunion movie together. They even had a family dinner with their respective spouses. Lea shared: “Dinner companion for tonight. Spouses were also in attendance! #HopiaNoMore.”
The said photo was also re-posted by Aga and his wife Charlene Gonzalez. In an earlier interview with ABS-CBN this year, Lea admitted that she’s no longer optimistic about the movie project with Aga this year. “I mean I would love to [do it] again, if schedules work out. But I’m looking at my year and certain prospects and possibilities, and I’m not optimistic about our prospect for doing a film this year,” she said.
Fans remain to be hopeful for the said project because they believe it will push through in due time. The reunion dinner between reel love team only proves that both Aga and Lea are bent on pursuing the reunion movie project in the near future.
