Veteran musician and singer Jim Paredes recently warned the public regarding the wide spread of fake accounts across social media sites after he himself had experienced such.
On his Twitter account, the former APO Hiking Society member warned netizens as he took a screen grab of an online news article where it was reported that he called the people from Mindanao as ‘taga-bundok.”
According to Jim, the fake news came from the trolls [people who uses dummy accounts with the intention to malign others]. Paredes explained that trolls do these things out of desperate measures.
“My FB [Facebook] account has close to 4K friends. Don’t be fooled by fake sites. Trolls know they are losing the war on truth so they are desperate,” wrote Paredes.
He also clarified, “I NEVER referred to Mindanaoans as Taong Bundok. My own mother is from Mindanao. Lies, lies, lies spread by trolls and losers on fake sites.”
Jim Paredes is known as one of the many critics of President Duterte.
Meanwhile, director Manny Castañeda also posted on Facebook regarding the same issue about Jim. He even referred Jim as “mentally ill.”
Director Manny wrote: “Based on his recent actions and statements, I sincerely believe that Jim Paredes is mentally ill and urgently needs help. The way I see it, he started as an Aquino apologist then became a fanatic and, of late, he has become delusional. For example, to refer ALL Mindanaoans as mountain people of mga taga bundok is not something a sane person would normally say or do. I know many Yellowtards [loyalists of the former administration] find him pathetic and recently would not want to associate themselves with him. And let’s face it, Jim Paredes has become a big joke, a lot funnier than Mocha Uson if I may say so myself. I therefore compel his friends to please help Jim Paredes. Maybe bring him to an institution of something. He needs it badly. (As an acquaintance, sagot ko na ang straight jacket.)
Two hours after, the director probably realized that it was indeed a fake Jim Paredes account.
The director wrote: “Initially, people believed the post was from Jim because it was something I felt Jim Paredes was capable of saying. In short, fake or not…the statement, to my mind, is very Jim Paredes.”
