Actress Nadine Lustre took a firm stand against online harassment after a netizen left a disturbing comment on her Instagram account, wishing harm upon her.
The controversial remark came after Nadine faced intense backlash from supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte due to her reaction to his arrest by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
On Monday, March 17, Nadine took to her Instagram Stories to expose a comment left by a certain @juncarzcruz, who wrote, “Sana ma-r*pe ka ng adik” (Translation: I hope you get raped by an addict).
The offensive comment was posted under an Instagram post where Nadine was seen attending an event with her non-showbiz boyfriend, Christophe Bariou, for a vegan milk brand.
Although the netizen later deleted the comment, Nadine did not let it slide, sharing a screenshot and calling them out:
“One of the many that did not pass the vibe check,” she wrote in her IG Story.
The hateful comment came amid the ongoing attacks against the actress from Duterte supporters, who were angered by a post she reshared on her Instagram Story.
The post featured an image of a placard that read “COLLECT THEM ALL,” with a checklist of names, including: Rodrigo Duterte (marked with a check), Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, Russian President.
Many Duterte die-hard supporters (DDS) saw Nadine’s post as a celebration of Duterte’s arrest, leading to a wave of bashing online.
She was labeled “bobo” (stupid), “laos” (irrelevant), and a “user”, with some even mocking her past relationship with ex-boyfriend James Reid. Despite the criticism, Nadine’s supporters and anti-Duterte netizens quickly came to her defense.
Despite the intense online attacks, Nadine has remained unbothered, choosing to ignore the negative comments and continue engaging with her fans.
This isn’t the first time she has been vocal about her political stance. Known for her outspoken support for human rights and transparency, Nadine was also an active supporter of former Vice President Leni Robredo during the 2022 elections.
