Comedian and actor-host John Lapus openly expressed his wish for former President Rodrigo Duterte to be imprisoned after the latter’s arrest and transfer to The Hague, Netherlands.
Lapus took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to an article about Senator Bong Go, a close Duterte ally, who urged the public to pray for the former chief executive. In response, Lapus wrote, “I pray na makulong [praying hand emoji].”

His statement resonated with many of his followers, with several netizens supporting his sentiment. One user commented, “We pray with you po. Makulong sa Hague.” Another added, “Yes. We are praying na makulong na ang mga dapat makulong.”
Duterte was arrested on Tuesday, March 11, upon his arrival in the Philippines from Hong Kong. A warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) was served against him in connection with alleged crimes against humanity, particularly extrajudicial killings (EJKs) linked to his administration’s war on drugs.
Despite appeals from his family and political allies citing his health condition, Duterte was immediately flown to The Hague on a chartered flight. He will remain in detention as he faces investigation and a court trial at the ICC.
