If singer Jed Madela had his way, he says he’d rather take all the bashers but spare his good friend Darren Espanto.
In an interview last Sunday, Jed admitted that he felt sad that his friendship with Darren has been affected after some people put malice into their closeness.
“He’s like a little brother to me. I’ve been his Kuya ever since Darren has started in the business. Ngayon na he is already finding his spot in the industry, I can’t help but be very proud of him,” Jed explained
“In all honesty, hindi kami masyadong okay. We’ve turned very casual lang. We just say, ‘hi’ or ‘hello.’ I try to protect the kid. He’s a minor. Ako na lang ang i-bash ninyo, okay lang sa akin. Pero kapag siya na or ‘yung ibang kaibigan ko, mas lalo akong nasasaktan. Ako, at least, I can handle them all,” he added.
Although he admitted that they still communicate with each other through text. But things had been different than before.
“Kapag maraming tao, we’re kind of awkward. It’s more of kung sino ang mga na-intriga sa akin. It’s pretty sad that friendships like ours had to suffer but I guess that’s how the industry works,” he said.
Jed is still hopeful that eventually all of these issues will simmer and things will get back to normal.
“Hopefully, maibalik yung dating samahan naming dalawa. Like we used to goof around sa dressing room or sa backstage. Tapos when people are around, you could feel the malice in their eyes when they see us together. It’s very disappointing and frustrating.”

“I’m a very private person and in as much as I can, I try to protect and value my privacy, especially with my friends. For them to get bashed because I’m their friend is very painful for me,” said Jed.
