Actor Enrique Gil recently appeared on Melai Cantiveros’ online show ‘Kuan On One’, where their lively banter and shared Bisaya roots led to an interview full of laughter and entertainment.
Melai kicked off the conversation by congratulating Enrique on the success of his film ‘I Am Not Big Bird’. She then humorously asked if the actor lives up to the Bisaya term “dako” (big), prompting a playful response from Enrique.
“Maraming salamat. Malaki talaga! Malaki talaga!” Enrique joked, before clarifying with a laugh, “Hindi naman malaki. Hindi rin naman maliit. Sakto lang! Cute lang. Very cute and masarap!”
He further teased, “Basta tumitigas, okey lang,” before Melai clarified that her question was about the size of birds in Cebu, where “langgam” means “bird” in the local dialect.
Shifting to more serious topics, Enrique shared insights about his upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, ‘Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital’. The film was shot at Xinglin General Hospital in Tainan City, Taiwan—reputedly one of the most haunted locations in the country.
Although ‘Strange Frequencies’ is not based on a true story, its setting in a real-life haunted hospital adds an element of authenticity to the film. Enrique described the experience as intense, highlighting how the setting contributed to the movie’s eerie atmosphere.
Fans can catch Strange Frequencies starting December 25, as it joins nine other entries in this year’s MMFF lineup.
