Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach recently sparked a social media debate after meeting with First Lady Liza Marcos to discuss HIV/AIDS awareness initiatives.
The First Lady shared photos from their meeting, in which Wurtzbach collaborated with her and the LoveYourself PH organization to plan the upcoming ‘Love Gala,’ a charity event dedicated to supporting people affected by HIV/AIDS.
In her social media post, First Lady Marcos praised Wurtzbach’s commitment to the cause, saying, “I stand with LoveYourself and Ms. Pia Wurtzbach in their mission to raise awareness and provide support for people with HIV/AIDS.” She also thanked Wurtzbach for “creating safe, compassionate spaces, and offering life-changing resources to empower those who need it most.”

Wurtzbach expressed her appreciation in a comment, writing, “I am so happy to hear that we are all aligned in our mission to make this a priority. Maraming salamat po.”
While many celebrated Wurtzbach’s advocacy efforts, a portion of netizens voiced disappointment, criticizing her for collaborating with the First Lady and calling for her “cancellation.” One user commented, “Cancel Pia Wurtzbach,” while others expressed their disapproval based on differing political views.

However, Wurtzbach also received a wave of support. Advocates praised her unwavering commitment to HIV/AIDS awareness.
Maybe we can see Pia’s case similarly—Liza might just be her way to further her purpose. Let’s be real, she needs funds to support her HIV advocacy.

Pia has been working with Love yourself PH since 2015. Taguig is hosting this year’s Gala Night and obviously Liza is just there to support Taguig govt and the org. If Liza, the first lady with so much resources can help the org further their advocacy against HIV, why not?

Wurtzbach, staying focused on her advocacy, continues her plans for the Love Gala, where she intends to auction personal items, including her pageant memorabilia, to support HIV/AIDS initiatives.
