Vina Morales is ready to take center stage once again with her upcoming concert The Ultimate Performer: VINA MORALES, Live In Concert.
The highly anticipated show, produced by VCSD Entertainment Productions, is set to take place on November 16, 2024, at 7:30 PM at the Ballroom of Winford Hotel Manila, near SM San Lazaro. Directed by Vergel Sto. Domingo, the concert will feature opening acts from David Young, a promising recording artist from ABS-CBN Star Music, and Nathan Randal, known for his Broadway-style performances. Special guests include the soulful balladeer Dindo Fernandez and crossover diva Niña Campos.
At a recent press conference for her concert, Vina Morales revealed her admiration for one of today’s rising stars, Julie Anne San Jose. When asked which current performers she would like to collaborate with, Vina praised Julie Anne’s talent. “I’ve seen Julie Anne perform, and she always shines,” Vina shared. “But I’ve never worked with her, never had the chance — ‘yung boyfriend lang niya ang lagi kong nakakasama,” she said with a smile, referring to actor Rayver Cruz, Julie Anne’s partner.
Interestingly, Vina also expressed her openness to guesting on GMA Network’s ‘All-Out Sundays,’ where Julie Anne is a regular performer. Despite being a long-time ABS-CBN artist and mainstay on ‘ASAP’, Vina is eager to explore opportunities across networks. “Anytime, ‘pag kailangan ako ng ng Channel 7, why not,” she said, adding that it would depend on the project.
Her willingness to perform on GMA Network comes as a surprise, given the past “network wars,” when it was rare for ABS-CBN and GMA Network talents to collaborate. However, Vina pointed out that she has worked with all major networks throughout her career. “I started on GMA 7, but I’ve spent 20 years with ABS-CBN. I’ve also worked with TV5,” she said, showing her versatility and openness to new opportunities.
Known for her generosity in sharing the spotlight, Vina will be joined by younger talents in her concert, including David Young, Nathan Randal, Dindo Fernandez, and Niña Campos, each bringing their unique musical styles to the stage.
Reflecting on her career, Vina was asked if she ever wished she had started in today’s era of sing-and-dance acts, which have become popular with artists like Kim Chiu, Maja Salvador, SB19, and BINI. Vina humbly responded, “I’ve always believed in right timing. Siguro that time, ‘yon ‘yung panahon ko eh. I’m just so grateful na accepted ako to do concerts na sing and dance, kasi not all naman are gifted (with both talents).”
As Vina approaches her birthday on October 17, she shared her simple wishes: good health and more quality projects. Fans can expect a night of nostalgia and energy at her concert, where she will perform her timeless hits such as ‘Muli,’ ‘Alam Mo Ba,’ and ‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo.’
