Showbiz insiders Boy Abunda and Cristy Fermin have dismissed recent rumors claiming that Kris Aquino returned to the Philippines with plans to run for senator in the 2025 elections, labeling the reports as baseless and untrue.
The speculation began circulating after Kris Aquino’s arrival in September, with some claiming her return was timed for the upcoming filing of candidacies in October. However, both Abunda and Fermin, along with netizens, were quick to debunk the rumor, pointing to Kris’s ongoing health struggles.
“Kailangan niya munang maging healthy bago siya kumandidato,” Abunda said in a recent interview. The King of Talk emphasized that Kris’s priority remains her health, not political ambitions, amid her battle with multiple autoimmune diseases.
Cristy Fermin, a veteran entertainment columnist, also shot down the claims, stressing that Kris would never compromise her well-being for a political campaign. Fermin believes the TV host-actress is focusing entirely on her recovery, not on adding the stress of a political race.
Kris herself has been open about her health journey, revealing in her last social media post before returning to the Philippines that she came back to begin chemotherapy in October.
Despite the rumors, Aquino has yet to comment on the matter, but her friends and supporters are confident she will dismiss the speculation and remain focused on her treatment.
