Korean actor Kim Ji Soo has expressed his excitement about launching a new phase of his acting career in the Philippines.
During an interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ on Friday, September 27, the actor shared that he is thrilled to showcase a fresh version of himself to Filipino audiences.
Ji Soo, who recently signed with Sparkle GMA Artist Center, has already started working on multiple projects with GMA Network. These include the action drama ‘Black Rider’ and the medical series ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap.’ His decision to pursue a career in the Philippines stems from his deep connection to the country, as well as his admiration for the growing local entertainment industry.
“Because I had a great experience here before and also I have friends here so I had a lot of experience here so I love this culture and also the industry here is growing up so I wanted to be a part of it,” Ji Soo said.
“It feels really grateful and actually happy, I’m so excited to be showing my new side, a new version of myself so I’m very excited.”
Currently playing the role of Doctor Kim Young in ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap,’ Ji Soo finds the experience rewarding, as it’s his first time portraying a doctor. “It’s been rewarding because I get to explore a new character as a doctor, and it was my first time acting as a doctor. I also enjoy working with the whole cast and team,” he added.

The actor also expressed gratitude to his co-star, Jillian Ward, for helping him feel at ease on set. “She’s really good, I had a lot of fun with her actually, she made me laugh for me to get used to the set and I think she’s very passionate and bright. She always smiles even through hard times, even though [it’s] late night, she always smile,” Ji Soo shared.
Ji Soo made his acting debut in 2009 and gained widespread recognition in the high school drama ‘Angry Mom’ (2015). However, his career faced a setback in 2021 when he was replaced in the drama ‘River Where the Moon Rises’ following accusations of bullying and assault.
Despite the controversy, Ji Soo has made a strong comeback in 2024, now based in the Philippines. His roles in GMA Network’s ‘Black Rider’ and ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap’ have marked his return to acting, with his recent signing with Sparkle GMA Artist Center solidifying his commitment to the Philippine entertainment industry.
