Rapper and host of the popular YouTube show Pinoy Pawnstars, Jayson Luzadas, better known as Boss Toyo, fondly recalls growing up amidst the ’90s gin pomelo craze.
Boss Toyo shared, “isa sa mga paborito kong gin memory, uso yung gin pomelo every corner of the streets. Talagang nakasanayan ko uminom ng gin pomelo at ka-partner ang mga chichirya, fish balls, street foods, at ano-ano pang madali lang mabili sa sari-sari store.” (One of my favorite gin memories is when gin pomelo was all the rage on every corner of the streets. I’m used to drinking Gin Pomelo paired with chips, fish balls, street foods, and other snacks you could easily buy in sari-sari stores.)
From his humble beginning as a reseller of watches, his business has now grown into a collection of cool memorabilia from famous Filipino icons and celebrities featured on his YouTube channel. Excited to represent “Gin is Cool,” Boss Toyo aims to connect to his 12 million followers by highlighting how he is cool like gin. “I’m very cool and very easy to get along with. Doon ako nakakarelate sa pagiging cool ng gin. Pareho kami, pag kasama mo ako, walang dull moment.” (“I’m very cool and very easy to get along with. There are no dull moments with me. That’s how I relate to gin. With gin, like when you are with me, you will surely have no dull moments.”)
CLEAR LIKE OLIVER
Atty. Oliver Moeller, the heartthrob lawyer from Cebu, shared that he had lots of happy moments drinking gin and tonic with friends while preparing for a body-building competition in 2019. “My coach back then would not allow me to drink too much alcohol that had a high-calorie content. It was a no-brainer for me to go for gin and tonic. If I remember correctly, the standard gin and tonic is only around 90 calories.”
After stealing the hearts of madlang people in Showtime’s “EXpecially For You” segment, Oliver became a sought-after internet personality, and his followers eagerly await his next move in the showbiz industry. Now, Oliver feels honored to be an endorser for the “Gin is Clear” of the “Gin-is-In” campaign of Ginebra San Miguel. “I have always been a fan of Ginebra basketball team, and growing up, I remember seeing my uncles and grandfathers drinking Ginebra San Miguel.”
Oliver identifies with gin’s clarity, seeing it as a reflection of his own authentic self. He believes in honest communication, both in his legal career and in his growing online presence. “I feel like I’m a very transparent person myself. Whenever I communicate with my clients in the legal industry or share my advocacies with my followers, I don’t hide anything and am very clear with my intentions.”

Meanwhile, versatile actress Mikee Quintos recalls her first sip of Ginebra San Miguel. Growing up in a family of politicians and public servants, Mikee had her first taste of gin at their house after a motorcade campaign.
“Nasanay akong maraming tao sa bahay after motorcade. Pagkatapos mangampanya for the day, laging may bote ng gin para sa buong campaign team and doon ko siya unang na-try.” (I was accustomed to having a lot of people around the house after a motorcade. At the end of the day, there would always be a bottle of gin for the entire campaign team, and that’s when I first tasted it.)
Mikee’s connection to gin is more than just an endorsement. It’s a personal reflection of her own versatility. While Mikee’s role as Lira in Encantadia has brought her fame as an actress, she is also a talented singer. She started performing at the age of seven, often taking the stage at her parents’ campaign parties. She has also built a following on YouTube by sharing her covers of popular songs. I’m also studying architecture at the University of Santo Tomas.
