Ogie Diaz, former talent manager of actress Liza Soberano, expressed his concerns about her drastic changes in both her career and personality during the latest episode of his YouTube show, ‘Showbiz Update.’
The discussion, co-hosted by Mama Loi and Ate Mrena, touched on the ongoing situation involving Soberano, James Reid, and Jeffrey Oh.
Diaz revealed that Liza reached out to help Jeffrey Oh, a business partner of James Reid, when he was detained by immigration. Ogie speculated on Jeffrey’s continued influence on Liza’s career despite her departure from Reid’s Careless label, raising questions about their current professional relationship.
“I’m sure mayroon rin naman [tulong si Jeffrey] as consultant or adviser ni Liza,” Ogie commented.
He also mentioned that James Reid had previously warned Liza about being cautious when dealing with Jeffrey Oh.
Ogie admitted his growing concern for Soberano, stating that she has significantly changed since parting ways with him as her manager.
“Sana magising na si Liza sa katotohanan. Kailangan na niyang magising. Dahil ako, kilala ko ang ‘yang bata na ‘yan. Hindi ko makalimutan. Mabait ‘yang batang ‘yan. Hindi ko lang alam bakit 360 degrees na change ang nangyari,” Ogie expressed.
While acknowledging that change is part of personal growth, Ogie stressed that Liza’s shift feels extreme. “We are open to changes. Pero huwag naman ‘yong 360 degrees. Parang hindi na si Liza ‘yon. Ako, ha, sa akin. Parang iba. Parang nadiktahan,” he added, alluding to outside influences without specifying who.
When Mama Loi pressed for more details, asking, “Sinong nag-dikta?” Ogie responded cryptically, “Oh?”
The strained relationship between Ogie Diaz and Liza Soberano has been a topic of public discussion since their professional split. Soberano previously alleged that Ogie continued receiving commissions from her endorsements even after their manager-talent relationship ended.
Ogie denied these claims, clarifying that he only received compensation for work done during their time together.
