Rising star Shanaia Gomez is set to make her mark as the lead in the upcoming iWantTFC original horror film ‘The Gatekeeper,’ directed by the award-winning duo Matthew and Dean Rosen.
This film marks a major milestone for Gomez, who takes on her first lead role in a genre she never expected to tackle.
In ‘The Gatekeeper,’ Gomez plays Cita, an antique dealer who unwittingly discovers a mysterious wardrobe that serves as a portal to hell, plunging her into a dark and dangerous world. The film promises to deliver suspense and supernatural thrills, exploring the boundary between the earthly realm and the underworld.
Gomez expressed her excitement about this unexpected opportunity. “I remember that if there was a genre I did not think I was able to do, it was horror. Suddenly, this opportunity came and I told myself to do my best. I discovered so much about myself making this movie. I am excited to take on other roles and genres,” she shared.
Directors Matthew and Dean Rosen were quick to praise Gomez’s performance, with Matthew highlighting her dedication. “We are in awe of her acting ability, her acting decisions, and her patience to achieve perfection. She brings something special to the character of Cita making it very believable and will resonate with audiences,” he said. Dean added, “Her ability to convey fear and sadness, but also strength and even deception all within just one look or one line was essential to Cita’s character, and Shanaia nailed it.”

Gomez first gained public attention as a contestant on ‘Idol Philippines’ and later as a housemate on ‘Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10.’ She has since appeared in hit TV series such as ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,’ ‘Can’t Buy Me Love,’ and the iWantTFC original ‘He’s Into Her.’ She has also made her mark in theater, starring in ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,’ and was part of the highest-grossing Filipino film ‘Rewind.’
‘The Gatekeeper’ will be available for streaming on iWantTFC starting October 19, giving fans a chance to see Gomez in a transformative and thrilling role.
