Comedian Jerald Napoles became the first winner of “It’s Showtime’s” newest segment, “Throwbox,” after he successfully answered the ‘Super Box’ question in the jackpot round and won P155,000.
In “Throwbox,” 10 studio players will choose a box they think contains the star to proceed to the next round. The studio player that gets the star proceeds to the next round, where he will pick five throwboxes with corresponding cash prizes. If the studio player answers the question correctly, the cash prize will be added to his winnings. Otherwise, it will be deducted from his earnings. In the jackpot round, he can choose between ‘doble o kalahati or ‘triple o sawi’ before answering the super box question.
During the elimination round, Jerald luckily selected the box containing the star, which led him to proceed to the next round. He bested Chad Kinis, Long Mejia, Iyah Mina, Anton Diva, Petite, Negi, and other comedians. He also answered all the questions from his five chosen throwboxes held by Vhong Navarro, Karylle, Jugs Jugueta, Ion Perez, and MC and Lassy. He earned a total of P75,000.
In the jackpot round, Vice Ganda and Jhong Hilario asked him what he would pick between ‘doble o kalahati’ or ‘ triple o sawi. He decided ‘doble o kalahati’ and correctly answered the 1997 super box question about the vegetable in the ‘Bahay Kubo’ with the English name of wing bean, which doubled his earnings to P150,000.
On the other hand, Den of National University-Laguna will now proceed to “TNT School Showdown’s” midterms after she got the highest percentage of 97.3% and impressed the judges in the segments’ prelims.
Meanwhile, netizens praised the show as it brought a new exciting game segment that educates viewers about the past. They also shared how they were trying to answer the questions with Jerald.
