Piolo Pascual has reversed his decision to step away from television dramas, citing the irresistible appeal of ABS-CBN’s ‘Pamilya Sagrado.’
The actor, who had previously announced plans to retire from teleseryes, was compelled to return after being captivated by the show’s script and the opportunity to work with an esteemed cast and crew.
Pascual admitted that his initial decision was difficult to stick to after being approached with the project, especially given its meaningful storyline and the involvement of the late Deo Endrinal, the former head of Dreamscape Entertainment, who was known for his passion for compelling narratives.
“Sinabi ko ayaw ko na mag-soap pero ang ganda kasi ng intensyon,” Pascual explained. “And si Tito Deo, he is so passionate about storytelling. I hope people will watch it not to be entertained but to learn from it.”
He continued, “I find it hard to say no to the offers that have been coming my way like when I said I wasn’t going to do soaps anymore and then Tito Deo pitched ‘Pamilya Sagrado’ to me. If I didn’t agree to do it, then I would have to carry that regret for the rest of my life.”
“I don’t want to pass up on projects that I feel have potential. I’m a sucker for good stories. Work for me is just a matter of planning and scheduling.”
During an intimate press conference on September 1 at the Royal Indian Curry House in Tomas Morato, organized by Dreamscape, Pascual expressed his excitement not only for ‘Pamilya Sagrado’ but also for future television projects. Even as the current series continues, he is already looking forward to his next teleserye.
‘Pamilya Sagrado’ begins a new chapter on September 2, moving to a 9:30 p.m. time slot after ‘Lavender Fields’ on the Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5. The series is also available on iWantTFC and TFC. Directed by Lawrence Fajardo, Andoy Ranay, and Rico Navarro, with special guest director Coco Martin, ‘Pamilya Sagrado’ is set to deliver more compelling episodes in the weeks ahead.
