Michael Sager expressed his excitement and admiration for Kate Valdez, his co-star in the upcoming GMA Network adaptation of the hit Korean drama ‘Shining Inheritance.’
In a recent media conference, Sager described working with Valdez as a dream come true, calling her his “dream leading lady.”
The young actor shared that he and Valdez had intensive one-on-one workshops to prepare for their roles. Sager was particularly impressed by Valdez’s talent, noting, “Mysterious talaga si Kate. Mysterious in a way na once nag-bloom na siya sa set, grabe, mapapa-wow ka nalang na napakagaling ni Kate.” He added, “Na-starstruck ako kay Kate, hindi lang sa ganda pero sa ganda ng work mo.”
Sager also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with Valdez, saying, “I always mentioned in interviews before that my dream leading lady is Kate Valdez, so maraming salamat po na naka-partner ko pa si Kate.”
In ‘Shining Inheritance,’ Sager plays Yuan Dela Costa, the twin brother of Joanna Dela Costa, portrayed by Kyline Alcantara. He revealed that he felt an instant connection with his character during the screen test and was determined to secure the role. “Sabi ko sa sarili ko, ‘Kailangan kong makuha ‘to.’ I prayed for it very hard,” Sager shared.
The original ‘Shining Inheritance,’ which starred Lee Seung Gi, Han Hyo Joo, Moon Chae Won, and Bae Soo Bin, was a major success in South Korea. The GMA Network adaptation is set to feature an equally stellar cast, including Coney Reyes and Paul Salas.
‘Shining Inheritance’ is scheduled to premiere on September 9 at 4 p.m., offering a fresh take on the beloved Korean drama for Filipino viewers.
