GMA Network has already clarified that AlDub’s first teleserye together “Destined to Be Yours” was really written to end in May.
Though there are petitions from the fans for the network to extend the show, the schedule of the lead stars was already fixed and they’ll start shooting for their next movie after the teleserye.
After all the hype and all the efforts from GMA Network to make AlDub’s first teleserye a hit on television, just like the ‘Kalyeserye’ on “Eat Bulaga,” “Destined to Be Yours” only got a mediocre ratings. Though it’s now doing well in TV ratings (AGB Nielsen, NUTAM), their consultant Suzette Doctolero admitted that the show’s first three weeks was flop.
So after this teleserye, it’s a big challenge for Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza to prove that’s they’re still in and a hot property inside the Kapuso circle.
Despite having negative reviews on story and cinematography, AlDub’s very first movie became a hit during the 2015 MMFF. “My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore” which also stars AiAi delas Alas and Vic Sotto have recorded ₱60,462,169.57 on its opening day on Christmas Day of 2015. The movie ended the race with ₱385 million total gross.
However, their very first movie without big bankable stars only reached more than ₱120 million after one week of showing in more than 180 theaters nationwide. No further news came out on the second week of its screening.
