The love team’s second film to cross ₱200-million mark at the box office, Un/Happy For You is poise to deliver more local records, in the coming weeks.
Already the biggest local box office hit in 2024, Star Cinema’s Un/Happy For You continues to dominate local cinemas, proving the industry is once again alive and still has hope. Last Saturday, August 24, the film crossed the ₱253 million mark, drawing approximately 800,000 admissions, on its second week. The film has been wrecking local records for the year and since pandemic, including the biggest single-day gross of ₱46 million, recorded last August 18, Sunday.
Even more spectacularly, Un/Happy For You, is already Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto’s highest grossing film, since their first team-up in 2016, via Vince, Kath, and James. Grossing ₱123million, the film topped the Metro Manila Film Festival 2016’s box office. Un/Happy For You obliterated previous record of ₱249 million, via Unexpectedly Yours in 2017.
Un/Happy For You is notably JoshLia’s reunion film, after parting ways as a loveteam and lovers, in 2019. Before the blockbuster movie, they starred the zombie apocalypse film, Block Z in 2020.
