Filipino singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid brought unexpected hilarity to ‘It’s Showtime’ on Monday (August 11) during the popular segment ‘EXpecially For You.’
While the show is known for its heartwarming and intriguing stories, this episode was filled with laughter thanks to Ogie’s impromptu ballroom dance performance.
Ogie was roped into a ballroom dance with the segment’s featured searcher, Weng, a former ballroom dancer, after the hosts playfully encouraged him to show off his dance skills.
“Hahanapin pa ba natin ng ka-partner, magaling sumayaw ito (si Ogie)” quipped host Kim Chiu, setting the stage for the performance.
Vice Ganda added to the fun by singing a line from the song ‘I rembember yesterday,’ teasing Ogie as he prepared to dance.
As the Tango music began, Ogie and Weng quickly impressed the audience with their synchronized moves. Ogie, known more for his singing than dancing, surprised everyone with his fluid motions and seamless coordination with Weng.
The laughter came when Ogie, mid-dance, lost his balance and fell backward while attempting a position switch with Weng. The unexpected mishap left the studio in stitches.
“Kuya Ogie! Okay ka lang?” guest host Bella Padilla asked with concern as Ogie quickly stood up, looking slightly bewildered.
Kim Chiu and Weng, trying to contain their laughter, rushed to help him up, while the audience couldn’t stop laughing. Vice Ganda, ever the comedian, quipped, “Ang taray ng papisikal komedy,” adding to the humor of the moment.
“Mister P ng Pilipinas,” Bella chimed in, playing along with the joke.
“Yeah, the very unpredictable physical comedy of Ogie Alcasid,” Vice Ganda continued, keeping the laughs coming.
As the laughter died down, Kim made another remark that added to the fun. “Hindi pa niya nagagawa iyon sa Bubble Gang,” she joked, referencing Ogie’s other show.
Ogie, always a good sport, responded with a grin, “Natutunan ko iyan kay Lassy,” pointing to one of the show’s comedians.
The segment, filled with unexpected comedy, quickly became a hit with viewers, showcasing Ogie Alcasid’s versatility as an entertainer.
