Kapuso actor Dennis Trillo has addressed the backlash over a controversial comment made from his TikTok account, which has since been attributed to hacking.
The issue arose when Trillo’s TikTok account replied, “May ABS pa ba?” to a netizen’s question about why his wife, Jennylyn Mercado, was not featured in GMA Network’s recently released Station ID.
The netizen had asked, “Kuya Dennis, sana masagot mo ito bakit wala si Ma’am Jen sa GMA Station ID at totoo ba na lilipat na siya sa ABS-CBN?”
The response triggered a flood of criticism. Trillo’s manager quickly defended the actor, revealing that his TikTok account had been hacked “around noontime today, July 1, 2024,” and emphasized that such remarks were out of character for Dennis.
In an interview with Nelson Canlas on ’24 Oras’ on July 12, Trillo expressed his deep respect for ABS-CBN and denied any involvement in the comment.
“I don’t want to be affected because the comments I read are not true. My account was hacked,” Trillo clarified.
“In my 20 years in this industry, I’ve never had enemies or spoken ill of anyone. I have nothing against ABS-CBN. I hold them in high regard. That’s where I came from, where we both came from. Respect is important to me, and I value it,” he continued.
“I wouldn’t respond to such comments in that manner. I can answer questions with full respect, but not in that way,” Trillo concluded.
