Kapuso actress Sanya Lopez believes that it is sometimes necessary to be “selfish,” especially in matters of love and relationships.
Currently single, Sanya emphasizes prioritizing herself, her family, and her career before committing to a serious relationship.
In a recent interview with GMA News, Sanya shared her perspective on self-love, emphasizing the importance of fully loving oneself before sharing that love with another person. Reflecting on a quote she encountered on TikTok, “Sometimes, it’s OK to be selfish,” she elaborated on its significance in her life.
“It’s not because gusto mo lang maging selfish, but at the end of the day, ikaw lang din sa sarili mo ang magliligtas sa sarili mo,” Sanya explained. “Sometimes, it’s okay to be selfish. Okay rin naman maging selfless, pero timbangin natin.”
Sanya is also eagerly anticipating the airing of GMA Network’s upcoming historical drama ‘Pulang Araw,’ where she stars alongside Barbie Forteza, David Licauco, Alden Richards, and Dennis Trillo. In the series, Sanya plays Teresita Borromeo, a vaudeville artist devoted to her sister Adelina, portrayed by Barbie Forteza. Sanya admitted that portraying such a selfless character posed challenges for her.
She also touched upon the theme of sacrifice for greater opportunities, expressing that sometimes, giving up certain things can lead to better outcomes.
Pulang Araw is set to premiere on GMA Prime on July 29.
