Hits recorded by two acts have taken turns as the most streamed track on Spotify. I’m
ABS-CBN’s recording arm, Star Music, continues to reach new highs this year, and that’s mostly thanks to two of its currently most popular artists, PPOP girl group, BINI, and solo artist, Maki.
BINI has been on a record-breaking craze on Spotify, since the beginning of the year, becoming the first girl group to hit 1 million and 2 million monthly listeners. The group then became the most streamed PPOP group in the country, surpassing SB19. The girl group is the first group of its kind to surpass 3 million, 4 million, 5 million, 6 million, and now, 7 million, monthly listeners on the global audio streaming platform. On top of this achievement, the group toppled Zack Tabudlo, as the OPM artist with most monthly listeners on Spotify. Early this month, it became the most streamed artist on Spotify’s Top Daily Artist Philippines chart, taking down global superstar, Taylor Swift. The group also has the most entries (5 at most) to the Top Songs chart on Spotify Philippines.
Similarly, solo artist, Maki, is proving ABS-CBN’s supremacy in music. First to attract attention with his now smash track, ‘Saan’, Maki’s monthly listeners exploded from 2 million to 6 million, this year. His current hit, Dilaw, reached number one, on Spotify’s Top Daily Songs chart, taking turns with BINI’s Pantropiko and Salamin, Salamin. Maki’s songs are released under Star Music’s international-facing sub-label, Tarsier Records.
