Chito Miranda, the lead vocalist of Parokya ni Edgar, has made a significant decision to step back from television commitments and prioritize his band.
Known for his recent stints as a judge on Idol Philippines Season 2 in 2022 and a coach on ‘The Voice Generations’ in 2023, Chito shared his sentiments in a heartfelt Instagram post. He expressed missing the camaraderie with his fellow celebrities from both shows, including Julie Anne San Jose, SB19’s Stell, Billy Crawford, Dingdong Dantes, Gary Valenciano, Robi Domingo, Moira dela Torre, and Regine Velasquez.
“Namimiss ko na si Stell, si Jules, si Billie at si Dingdong. Namimiss ko na rin si Ate Reg, si Sir Gary, si Robi, and sige na nga… pati si Moi,” Chito revealed.
He recounted his enjoyable experiences on these television programs and expressed gratitude for the opportunities they provided. Despite this, Chito emphasized that his foremost commitment remains with Parokya ni Edgar.
“I enjoyed being a coach sa The Voice Generations, and I also enjoyed being a judge sa Idol Philippines Season 2… but I am, first and foremost, the vocalist of Parokya ni Edgar. Sobrang saya ng experience ko being a part of both shows,” Chito affirmed.
Reflecting on his TV engagements, he acknowledged the extensive time demands that conflicted with his band commitments, leading to missed opportunities to perform alongside his bandmates.
“Pero, kahit sobrang solid ng experience, the schedule takes too much time away from my band. Dami ko kelangan i-give up na gigs, and ayoko maging unfair sa mga kabanda ko,” Chito explained.
He highlighted the significance of live performances in their lives and underscored the band’s autonomy over their schedule compared to the structured demands of television.
“Playing gigs is such a big part of our lives. That is who we are, and that is what we love doing. But more importantly, sa Parokya kasi, mas kontrolado namin ang sked namin, unlike sa TV, kelangan mo talaga mag-work around their sked,” Chito emphasized.
In conclusion, Chito expressed a current preference for spending quality time with his family and focusing on music with his bandmates.
“And right now, nasa point ako ng buhay ko na mas trip ko na tumambay lang kasama ng pamilya ko, at tumugtog kasama ng mga kabanda ko,” he concluded.
Chito Miranda ended his statement with a resolute commitment to Parokya ni Edgar: “Walang iwanan sa Parokya. Rakenrol.”
