A rising alternative-pop band, Letters from June, has officially joined the roster of KDR Music House’s artists following a grand announcement last Wednesday, May 29, at La Verdad Christian College’s auditorium in Caloocan.
The band, composed of Renzo Compuesto, Michelle Fajkovic, Arvy Perez, Sean Villa, Deign Porol, and Ken Lunas, expressed their excitement about this pivotal moment in their musical careers.
During the event, Filipina-Bosnian keyboardist Michelle shared her gratitude and anticipation, saying, “I am very grateful also that we are here together as a band, and we are starting off something. It’s very exciting, and I’m honestly curious to see what happens next po.” Bass guitarist Deign echoed this sentiment, stating, “We are so happy po sa opportunity na ipinagkaloob… Hopefully po marinig niyo pa po yung kanta namin.”
The band’s journey began in November 2022 when they initially met through a school theater group, bonding over their shared love for music.
Drawing inspiration from personal experiences, Letters from June crafts a distinct musical style characterized by alternative, mellow, and cosmic sounds, influenced by artists like Ben&Ben, The 1975, I Belong to the Zoo, and others.
At their signing and debut showcase, the band unveiled their first single, ‘Bituin,’ which explores themes of love and longing. Originally written by vocalist Renzo as a personal tribute, the song has evolved into a compelling piece that resonates with emotional depth.
In an exciting development, KDR Music House announced that Letters from June will headline the 13th installment of the Wish Date concert series, scheduled for June 30 at the Araneta Coliseum, hosted by Wish 107.5. This milestone event will feature their debut single as the theme song, enhancing their exposure and audience reach.
Looking ahead, the band members are enthusiastic about their future endeavors under their new label, expressing their eagerness to connect with a wider audience and achieve further success in the music industry. Electric guitarist Arvy encapsulated their aspirations, saying, “It’s been our goal since I don’t know how long… Thank you po for all of your support. We are so excited to make more music.”
