GMA Network is embracing the future of content production with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), as shared by President and CEO Gilberto Duavit Jr. during a virtual stockholders’ meeting on Wednesday.
Duavit detailed the company’s ongoing and forthcoming AI-driven initiatives aimed at improving content quality and accessibility.
“Embracing the rapid advancements in AI, our post-production team has adopted an innovative AI-driven video-image enhancement solution for select content,” Duavit stated.
This technology aims to significantly enhance the visual quality of GMA Network’s programming.
Additionally, GMA Network plans to implement an AI-based system for close captioning and subtitling efforts within the year.
“As times and audiences incessantly change, we leave no stone unturned in fulfilling our commitment to continuously grow and evolve, as we further build our audiences, maintain our relevance, and be where our audiences are, whether in or out of their homes,” Duavit added.
Despite these technological advancements, GMA Network faced financial challenges in the first quarter. The company’s net income dropped by 66 percent to P204.12 million, due to a decline in advertising revenues and a rise in total operating expenses.
The media conglomerate remains optimistic that its strategic investments in AI and other technologies will drive future growth and enhance audience engagement.
