Piolo Pascual was not able to hold back his tears during the press conference of his upcoming film “Northern Lights” on March 20.
It happened when Regal Film matriarch and film producer Lily Monteverde prepared a special message for him.
“The first time I met Papa P, I knew he was special. Not only do I find him to be a brilliant actor, he is a diligent one as well. His eyes speak of sincerity, his heart, filled with compassion for others,” she read.
While Mother Lily, Monteverde’s byname, was reading her message, the Piolo’s eyes suddenly got teary.
She continued, “Right there and then, I thought this guy would go a long way in his career. I was right.”
It took more than 14 years for Piolo to make another film with Regal Entertainment. The last film he did was the romantic film “I Think I’m In Love” with Joyce Jimenez.
“And 14 years after, I wished that he would do another movie with us. ‘Northern Lights: A Journey to Love’ is an answered prayer,” Mother Lily said.
“Our common love and passion for the art led him to a new journey back to Mother Lily and Regal. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Papa P!”
Mother Lily then revealed Piolo’s generosity towards the staffs behind his upcoming film.
“On the last shooting of Northern Lights, he shared his talent fee with the staff and crew. Nag-iyakan ang mga taga-production sa sorpresa niya sa kanila. They love him to death now,” she proudly said.
Meanwhile, Piolo said he felt overwhelmed when Mother Lily phoned her on March 19.
He shared, “Naiyak ako, e. Kasi bata pa lang ako, nanonood na ako ng mga Regal movies, e. So, nung tumawag sa akin si Miss Roselle (Monteverde), 9am ‘yun, papunta ako ng ASAP, I was driving kahapon.
“Kausap ko si Mother (Lily). She was saying, ‘Just be happy. Maganda yung pelikula natin,’ this and that. Pagbaba ko, sabi ko, ‘Grabe, si Mother, tumawag sa akin oh.’”
Piolo continued he didn’t expect that he would come to the point of doing another film with Regal Films.
He said, “I’m just really humbled by this. Thank you Mother, thank you Miss Roselle.”
“Northern Lights” is a film co-produced by Star Cinema, Regal Films and Spring Films. It will hit big screens on March 29, and will introduce new stars such as Yen Santos and Raikko Mateo.
