In a recent guesting on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ last Friday, May 10, actress Dina Bonnevie revisited the story of her past romance with TV host-comedian Vic Sotto, delving into the circumstances that led to their separation.
Before their split, Dina and Vic had been together for six years and shared two children, Danica and Oyo Boy.
The actress revealed that their children started to notice Vic’s absence at home, eventually becoming accustomed to the situation. “Sinabi lang ni Vic na ‘Weekends, you’re gonna spend it with me. Weekdays you’re going to spend with your Mama,'” Dina recounted.
During those times, Danica and Oyo expressed their desire for their parents to reconcile and get back together. Dina shared that she couldn’t help but feel emotional whenever she remembered those moments, emphasizing that every mother would wish for a complete family.
Despite the challenges they faced, Dina and Vic never displayed their conflicts in front of their children. “We never fight in front of the kids and I never badmouthed their dad. Never! Never ko siyang siniraan sa mga anak niya and I would always say, ‘You only have one dad… and you have to respect him. Whatever it is,'” Dina affirmed.
She also revealed that it took her a long time to forgive Vic, and there came a point when Danica told her that she was being too bitter. Dina admitted that she couldn’t help but rant and question what happened, perhaps because she was only 23 years old when their relationship ended.
However, she realized that holding onto bitterness wouldn’t lead anywhere. “You don’t understand a lot of things but I guess through time, walang pupuntahan ito unlessI really let go and just accept like it’s like this,” she reflected.
It’s widely known that the reason behind Dina and Vic’s breakup was Vic’s relationship with his co-star at the time, Coney Reyes.
