Today, the legal battle between showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin and celebrity couple Sharon Cuneta and former Senator Kiko Pangilinan intensifies as the couple files a ‘cyber libel’ complaint against Fermin.
The decision to seek legal recourse stems from what the couple perceives as baseless and malicious statements concerning their personal lives and family, as per a recent announcement by entertainment reporter Nelson Canlas on Instagram.
The complaint was formally lodged today, May 10, at the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
According to Canlas’ update, the legal action was prompted by a series of unsubstantiated claims circulated about the couple, which they find detrimental and defamatory.
“Former Senator Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan and his wife, actress Sharon Cuneta filed cyber libel charges before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office against showbiz columnist and host Cristy Fermin for broadcasting baseless and malicious statements regarding their personal and family affairs,” read Canlas’ post caption, accompanied by a photo showing Cuneta and Pangilinan raising their right hands in a symbolic gesture.

This latest development follows a similar move by award-winning actress Bea Alonzo, who recently filed a lawsuit against Fermin, along with showbiz insider Ogie Diaz and their respective co-hosts on various entertainment programs.
Alonzo’s legal action comes amid reports alleging her non-payment of taxes and speculation surrounding her personal life, including her separation from former partner Dominic Roque.
In response to Alonzo’s legal action, Ogie Diaz initially apologized to reporter friends pending receipt of the subpoena, refraining from further comment until its arrival.
Meanwhile, Fermin has yet to issue a statement regarding the new lawsuit brought against her by Cuneta and Pangilinan.
