A photo of musician Jim Paredes began circulating in social media while commemorating the events of EDSA 1. The members of Duterte Youth can be seen confronted by Paredes. They were supposedly trying to oppose the people who gathered together.
Entertainment site Rappler asl uploaded a video showing Paredes talking to nuisances.. The musician said to one of these provokers: “Look at me! Look at me! You can’t even look. Duwag!”
Thus, actress Vivian Velez ranted on Facebook to remind Paredes about the fortunate past of her mom during the Marcos regime.
She wrote on her Facebook: “Jim keeps harping about the EJK or the people who died from drugs when his own mother was very much part of the LIGHT A FIRE MOVEMENT along with Steve Psinakis.”
Velez then cited that the opposition was responsible for the series of bombings in Metro Manila including the Old Philippine Plaza where innocent people died.
She also said the bombing was the cause of Nonoy Zuniga’s amputation of leg. She then recalled the one who pardoned Paredes’ mom from execution.
“Guess who pardoned her (his) mother when she got jailed? Cory…” Velez wrote.
She also expressed her surprise that this part of our history was unknown to youths of today.
The Light-A-Fire Movement was said to be the group of prominent people during the Martial Law era.
The group had decided to fight violence with violence to shake the Marcos regime, according to some sources.
