After a decade in showbiz, Maris Racal expressed her joy on April 11 at the opportunity to portray Irene Chiu in the hit ABS-CBN series ‘Can’t Buy Me Love,’ as it allowed her to explore a unique role.
Racal, now 26, had the chance to unleash her inner kikayness in the series, embodying the glitz and glamour of the elite Chiu family.
It marked her first time delving into such a role since entering showbiz in 2014.
“To me, bilang ten years na po tayo sa industry, haha. Sa akin, si Irene Chiu, unang-una noong in-offer ito na role sa akin, I was so happy,” she mused.
The actress continued, “Ahhh! Bagong role! Hindi ko pa ito nagagawa! Maarte, kikay, and like sabi ko, ‘Ibibigay ko talaga ang lahat ng kaartehan ko dito sa character na ito.'”
She also found a love team in the series, being paired with Anthony Jennings’ character, Snoop. Their quirky love-hate relationship captured the interest and excitement of viewers. Additionally, the debut of their pairing as the newest Kapamilya love team was met with success.
With the success of SnoRene, she realized that one viral scene could change the course of her professional career.
“Natuwa ako kasi sa result ng SnoRene and all, doon ko na-realize na sa bawat eksena na ibinibigay sa inyo, ibigay mo talaga ang lahat ng best mo; ibigay mo ang 100 percent mo, even more than that. Kasi you’ll never know anong mangyayari because of that scene,” said Racal.
As for their pairing, the actress and Jennings are set to collaborate on an upcoming project helmed by JP Laxamana.
In the meantime, follow the journey of Snoop and Irene as ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ approaches its finale. Tune in to ABS-CBN Primetime Bida or catch it in advance on Netflix.
