Looking back, 2012 has been a very colorful, intriguing and interesting year. Along the way, some celebrities shined even brighter, while others have failed to sustain their spot in the limelight. More to that, new personalities have emerged, which made the show business scene way and beyond entertaining! So who won big in 2012?

Dingdong Dantes. He starred in Star Cinema’s ‘One More Try’ and won ‘Best Actor’. What an amazing way to end 2012, right? And a part from that, Dingdong was juggling every single teleserye in GMA one after another. More to that, he was also very active in the ‘Yes Pinoy foundation’; a confirmation of his great character as an individual. To top all of that, his relationship with Marian Rivera is flourishing more than ever. Without a doubt, Dingdong won big in 2012! Will he maintain his winning streak this 2013? Knowing Dingdong, yes, we believe he can!
Janine Tugonon. Philippines is really a country of the most beautiful women in the world! And to prove that is our very own Ms. Universe 1st runner-up Janine Tugonon. Janine wowed the entire nation and the world with her beauty and wit during the Miss Universe pageant. She was so amazing during the pageant that many believed that Janine was rub-off the crown and should have won the contest. Nonetheless, this girl brought honor to our country and that is something to celebrate for no matter what. Way to go Janine!
Alden Richards. After being featured on a billboard ad that has caught the attention of the nation, Alden’s career has blossomed last 2012. He also proved that he is just not a pretty face but a versatile actor as well. From his epic performance in the movie “The Road” to top-billing various teleseryes on GMA, Alden has made it as one of the most promising actors of his generation!
Eugene Domingo. This awesome comedian is everywhere last year! From her come back movie in ‘Kimmy Dora’ to singing her heart out in “I Do Bidoo”, Eugene has proved to us all that the sky is the limit! Also, her critically-acclaimed performance in the theater play “Bona” is a proof to her solid and out of this world talent! She also bagged a lot of awards for her role in ‘Ang Babae sa Septik Tank’ in the country last year. More to that, she was hailed as the People’s Choice Award for Best Actress in the 6th Asian Film Awards and Best Actress in PAU International Film Festival in France for the said film.
Erich Gonzales. Among all the other local young celebrities this year, Erich had the opportunity of a lifetime when she starred with Asian superstar Mario Maurer in “Suddenly It’s Magic.” It only means that Erich has an international appeal and could go global as an actress. Beat that! Also, she starred in “Corazon:” Ang Unang Aswang” which became the Highest Grossing Digital Film in the Philippines. Indeed, Erich has come a long way last year!
Coco Martin. Top-billing the primetime phenomenal hit ‘Walang Hanggan’ it couldn’t get any better for Coco last 2012. Starring in the primetime series hit, has put Coco Martin in the highest pedestal in 2012 as an actor in primetime TV. Furthermore, Coco starred in a movie with Angeline Quinto with ‘Born to Love You’. He also won various awards from ‘Gawad Tanglaw’ to ‘Yahoo OMG’ award (to name a few) – an affirmation of his superb talent as an actor.
Marian Rivera. The spark of Marian’s star glowed even more in 2012 with various GMA shows she starred in, namely, ‘My Beloved’, ‘Temptation of Wife’, ‘Tweets for my Sweet’ and ‘Extra Challeng’e. With all these programs under her belt, there is no question that Marian Rivera remains to be one of the most sought-after actresses in the country.
