Actress Heaven Peralejo revealed on March 22 that she went on a journey of self-discovery and emotional healing while filming Viva Films’ upcoming flick, ‘Sunny.’
However, Peralejo found challenges while playing Annie in the movie, particularly speaking in Ilonggo. She even had a scene where she was crying while speaking the dialect.
“‘Yung pinaka-challenging for me playing the role of Annie is first, speaking in Ilongga kasi Ilongga siya,” she revealed during the film’s press conference at Viva Cafe.
Somehow, the struggle made her connect with the character of Annie on a personal level, to the point that she felt like she was playing.
“What I liked also is I’m playing a younger me. Kasi parang 16 years old lang siya dito. Of course, iba ang galaw ng isang sixteen years old. Iba the way she talks, the way she walks, the way she thinks, it’s so different,” said the actress.
By portraying her character, she experienced healing, having realized the things she missed after working at a young age.
“Parang na-heal din ang inner child ko. Nakakatuwa kasi parang lagi lang kaming naglalaro sa set,” Peralejo described.
The actress added, “I can be the younger me, kumbaga.”
‘Sunny’ is an upcoming Viva Films adaptation under the direction of Jalz Zarate. It stars Ana Roces, Angelu de Leon, Sunshine Dizon, Tanya Garcia, Vina Morales, Candy Pangilinan, and Katya Santos, among others.
The film will be available in theaters on April 10.
