Comedian Nikko Natividad revealed on March 15 his struggles while taping the Vivamax horror-comedy ‘Pagpag 24/7:’ perfecting Kris Aquino’s screams of terror.
“Eh ang goal ko kasi, mahabol ko ang sigaw ni Kris Aquino,” he revealed during the film’s media conference.
Natividad has acted in various projects in the past. His typical roles were the humorous brother or friend. He also dipped his fingers into drama.
But this ‘Pagpag 24/7,’ a mix of comedy and horror, was the first for the comedian. His favorite horror was Aquino’s ‘Feng Shui,’ so it’s typical for him to try and copy the Queen of All Media’s screams.
He struggled, saying, “Dahil first time ko po ang horror-comedy, siguro ‘yung mga ano, pagsigaw-sigaw.”
In a horror-comedy movie, actors must elicit a blend of laughter and fright from the audience. Actors must deliver genuine scares alongside laughter.
As an artist, he understands that he needs to learn to control his emotions and the intensity of his squeals to accurately portray a terrified expression, or if his character needs to humor the viewers. According to Natividad, he was able to learn it while filming the movie, especially with its genre.
“Kaya dito ko natutunan na p’wede ko palang dayain kung kailan ko ibibigay ang sigaw. Kasi nga dahil horror siya, sa isang araw ang daming eksena na kailangan mong sumigaw, malaki ang galaw, tapos comedy pa siya.”
Pagpag 24/7 follows two friends who were haunted by their past crimes. They find themselves stuck with strangers in a convenience store full of abandoned souls waiting for their next victims.
Joining Natividad in this Vivamax offering are Danita Paner, Dindo Arroyo, Jerald Napoles, Wilbert Ross, and Nicco Manalo. It is directed by JR Reyes and is now in cinemas on March 21.
