Morissette Amon finds support from an unexpected source: her husband, Dave Lamar amidst criticism over her recent performance.
Lamar took to social media to defend his wife after she faced accusations of delivering a lackluster performance at an event.
Sharing a clip of Amon singing her hit song ‘Will You Stay’ on his Facebook page last Saturday, March 2, Lamar praised her resilience and talent. Despite battling illness, Amon’s performance impressed Lamar, who described her as a “trooper” for giving her all on stage.
“Man, I wish I sound this good when I’m sick. But then again, don’t we all?” he captioned his post. “But real talk, I took this clip of Mori during this event because I couldn’t believe she still sounded this good despite being sick this day. Whatta trooper!”
The controversy surrounding Amon’s performance stemmed from a now-deleted Facebook post by event director Vic Sevilla. Although not directly naming Amon, Sevilla’s post criticized a performer for underwhelming their audience. Many speculated that Amon, known as “Asia’s Phoenix,” was the target of Sevilla’s remarks.
“So this is the said event,” Facebook user Marci O. Santos commented. “You can’t really please everyone. Damned if you don’t and damned if you do. But still, Mori slayed as usual.”
Addressing the criticism, Amon explained that she had been bedridden with a fever and had lost her voice the day before the event. Despite her condition, she proceeded with the performance as planned, giving her best effort. Amon emphasized that while she sets high standards for herself, she is only human and prone to illness like anyone else.
Lamar’s defense of Amon resonated with fans and supporters, who rallied behind the singer, praising her professionalism and dedication to her craft. Despite the challenges she faced, Amon’s commitment to delivering a memorable performance did not go unnoticed.
