In an X post before Christmas, Joey de Leon, the host of the popular noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga!,’ dropped a teasing comment regarding another television program, wishing for a change in its title.
Sharing artwork with the caption ‘Happy New Year,’ the veteran host extended his Christmas greetings and playfully expressed his festive wish.
“Merry Christmas too! Ang wish ko ngayong Pasko—-sana magbago na…magbago na…magbago na NG TITLE yung ibang show! Ngehhh! Joke only! Happy and healthy 2024 to all! 😜🤣😛,” he remarked.
While not explicitly naming the show in question, it’s evident that Joey’s X post alludes to ‘Eat Bulaga!,’ produced by TAPE Inc., and airing on GMA Network.
The TVJ trio, comprised of Joey de Leon, Vic Sotto, and Tito Sotto, recently reclaimed the trademark for ‘Eat Bulaga!’ after the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) rejected TAPE, Inc.’s trademark registration for the title and logo.
However, TAPE’s legal counsel clarified that TVJ cannot use the title immediately, as they plan to appeal the decision in court.
On the show, host Paolo Contis also acknowledged that the trademark issue is far from resolved, hinting at an ongoing and protracted legal battle.
