Talent manager and comedian Ogie Diaz has responded to the recent controversy surrounding his coverage of the alleged involvement of Kapamilya stars Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, and Andrea Brillantes.
Speaking on an episode of ‘Showbiz Updates’ on Friday, November 10, Ogie addressed the criticism from those labeling him a purveyor of fake news.
“Sanay na sanay na po ako sa mga bashers. Lalo’t higit doon sa mga hindi naman nakakakilala sa akin at jina-judge lang naman ako according sa sinulat ko or sa mga sinasabi ko rin dito,” Ogie shared.
He added, “‘Wag kayong magalit. Kayo naman, Diyos ko!”
Ogie clarified that he had no malicious intent in reporting on the issue involving Daniel, Kathryn, and Andrea. He expressed a wish that the KathNiel couple was not truly separated.
“Maganda kung ganoon kung hindi sila hiwalay at sila pa rin. Dahil ‘yan din naman ang ating wish…na sana sila pa rin,” emphasized Ogie.
Previously, Ogie reported that Daniel and Andrea were allegedly having secret meetings, according to his sources.
Before this, Ogie had mentioned in one of his vlog episodes that Kathryn reportedly opposed working with Andrea due to the latter’s apparent strong crush on Daniel.
Facing severe criticism, Ogie was labeled a fake news peddler by some.
Even Star Magic, the talent agency representing the three artists involved, received calls from fans urging them to speak up and deny the issue.
While there has been no official response or statement from the three artists targeted by this issue, Daniel shared a meaningful photo on his Instagram story a few days after the controversy. Additionally, he proudly featured his girlfriend Kathryn in a lifestyle magazine feature.
