On October 31, actor Arron Villaflor discussed how he went through depression after his two projects with ABS-CBN got canceled.
During the media event for the Vivamax film ‘Tuhog,’ which LionhearTV covered, Villaflor admitted that he felt saddened about the canceled Kapamilya projects amid the pandemic.
“I got embarrassed, and I felt [really] sad that they offered me these two projects sa ABS po, and both got canceled. So parang, ginanyan ako, parang ginanon ako na somehow during the time. You know, you have this parang eagerness to work and work and work.”
He also highlighted how much he wanted to take on the roles he was supposed to have with the shelved projects.
“And those projects, parang sobrang magandang projects sa ABS sana kung natuloy. So I felt really bad. Wala po akong nagkaroon ng financial problem or anything, it’s just for me, kapag everytime na nagkakaroon ng cancellation sa projects, nalulungkot po talaga ako.
“And pandemic pa, so somehow it was a triple sadness for me na lahat tayo nasa bahay lang, we’re not doing anything kung di kumain, matulog, magpahinga, so para sa akin, sayang, sayang ‘yung chance na ‘yun.”
He then recounted how he considered his transfer to Viva with the mindset of working on a project as soon as possible.
“And then I heartly decided accepting this work, for me to go through this kind of situation na I really, really want to work, gustong-gusto ko po talagang mag-trabaho and for me kasi kapag nababakante ako, parang nade-depress ako. Nade-depress talaga ako.
“And during that time po, I was still with Cornerstone pa noon. Oo, so I told them, nag-exit ako ng maayos na parang I hope na you’ll give me a chance to work with other agency na hindi naman po siguro ipagdadamot sa akin ‘yun. So, ‘yung pag-exit ko sa kaniya, then eventually nagtuloy-tuloy dito po sa Viva, which I’m really, really happy doing things with Viva.”
He also talked about how he handled his depression amid the canceled projects and changes in his career.
“Siguro, it’s just how you set your mind when you work. Medyo malakas ‘yung hatak ng sadness pero dahil it’s work, and you have to this work, regardless with everything, I try to avoid that sadness or that feeling.”
