The upcoming movie pairing of Julia Montes and Alden Richards in ‘Five Breakups and A Romance’ has stirred comparisons and expectations, especially in light of Kathryn Bernardo’s recent box office success with ‘A Very Good Girl.’
As the two actresses release their respective films, netizens and fans can’t help but draw comparisons between them.
Kathryn Bernardo’s ‘A Very Good Girl’ has already achieved blockbuster status, both in the Philippines and internationally, setting high standards for the upcoming films of her contemporaries.
Julia Montes, who has been on an eight-year hiatus from the big screen, is making her return with ‘Five Breakups and A Romance.’ Moreover, it’s her first movie pairing with Alden Richards, who previously achieved box office success alongside Kathryn in ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye.’
Julia Montes recently appeared on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ and shared her thoughts on the pressure surrounding her movie. She admitted to feeling fear, not about her acting abilities, but about how the audience would receive the film.
“’Yung takot kasi talaga never nawala po sa akin and ‘yung takot ko nagsimula siya before doing the film. Takot ako kung kaya ko, laging ganu’n ‘yung takot ko sa sarili ko. But this time, after doing this film, meeting Alden, direk Irene (Villamor), they made me feel na pwede pala ‘yung takot na ‘yun hindi ‘yung takot na kung kaya ko. Takot na siya na sana magustuhan siya ng tao. Naniwala na ako sa sarili ko this time,” Julia said.
She also expressed pride in Kathryn Bernardo’s achievements and emphasized that she doesn’t view it as pressure but rather as a source of motivation. Julia appreciates Kathryn’s support and sees their bond as something special, calling themselves the “original love team.”
In their movie with Alden Richards, Julia mentioned that it takes a different perspective on love, delving into the complexities and challenges that relationships can face. The film explores the question of how far someone can fight for their love.
Despite the comparisons and expectations, Julia remains confident in the relatability and strength of the film’s story. ‘Five Breakups and A Romance’ is set to offer audiences a unique exploration of love’s intricacies and challenges when it hits theaters.
