Hunky actor Marco Gumabao has declared that he will never showcase his butt again in his future films and that he will not do frontal nudity either.
The boyfriend of Cristine Reyes explained that he has had his fill of butt exposure in his past projects with Viva Films, and he might not consider it in his upcoming movies.
During an interview with talent manager and content creator Ogie Diaz, featured on Diaz’s YouTube channel, Marco discussed his experiences with on-screen nudity and love scenes.
Marco began by describing how he started and transitioned into more daring roles in films. He mentioned that he needed to redefine his image as he shifted from youthful and comedic roles, like those in the sitcom ‘Luv U,’ to more mature and intense characters.
He attributed his shift in roles to advice he received from ABS-CBN executive Ruel Bayani, who suggested that he try to change his image and stand out from his contemporaries.
“During that time kasi, kailangan kong maghanap ng image o kumbaga, ‘Paano ko ba iba-brand ang sarili ko?’ Eh, nanggaling ako sa pa-tweetums, nanggaling ako sa sitcom, ’di ba, sa Luv U,” Marco explained.
Bayani’s advice was instrumental in Marco’s decision to pursue a more provocative image in his acting career. He underwent rigorous workouts to develop a more attractive physique and even agreed to show off his butt in his film with Anne Curtis, ‘Just a Stranger.’
Marco mentioned that the idea to showcase his behind was not initially in the script but was spontaneously suggested on set. Director Jason Paul Laxamana and the team were surprised by Marco’s willingness to go along with the idea.
However, Marco clarified that he only agreed to nudity when it felt right for the project and the scene. He was not comfortable with gratuitous or unnecessary nudity.
Regarding his future projects, Marco emphasized that he might not consider showcasing his butt again. He believed that doing so in every film would diminish its impact and appeal to the audience.
Marco also firmly ruled out frontal nudity, citing his girlfriend Cristine Reyes’s disapproval. He humorously stated that showing his backside was acceptable but that frontal nudity was off-limits.
Marco Gumabao has decided to limit his on-screen nudity, especially in terms of showing his butt, to maintain a sense of novelty and avoid overexposure. He also expressed reluctance to do frontal nudity, taking into account his girlfriend Cristine Reyes’s feelings on the matter.
