On August 30, Kapamilya host Robi Domingo recounted breaking down after his contract signing with ABS-CBN because of his fiancee, Maiqui Pineda’s medical diagnosis.
During the PIE Channel media event At the Sequoia Hotel in QC, which LionhearTV covered, Domingo explained that he got emotional during his contract signing with ABS-CBN because of Pineda’s medical diagnosis, Dermatomyositis.
“The most that I cried was recently during my contract signing with ABS-CBN, and it happened because the day before, ‘yung sinabi ng doctor sa amin na it’s going to be a long and expensive fight.
“And during that, pre-diagnosis period, medyo hala, naiisip ko na agad what will happen after the wedding.”
He remarked that Pineda’s diagnosis up-ended the couple’s post-wedding plans.
“Siyempre marriage ang dami naming plans, and then we’re going to be in the hospital for the special part, and then lahat funds mapupunta sa pag-gaganon. So naalarma ako sa lahat ng pwedeng mangyari. I think it was natural, pero thinking about it gives me strength and hope na we have to work on this together. It’s not just your fight.”
He then shared updates about Pineda’s prognosis, noting her medical progress.
“Just looking at her and her progress, ‘yun ‘yung nagbibigay ng lakas sa akin. Lumalaban siya eh. Sana kapag hindi na niya nakikitang umiiyak ako. Mas iyakin talaga ako noong nalaman ko na ang bigat-bigat ng pakiramdam ko before.
“Now, we have accepted the fact na we have working prognosis, not just in terms of her health, pero how we could fix our relationship–not just with us but also with the Lord.”
He then cited how he helps with Pineda’s medical necessities and their wedding.
“I go with her sa hospital, I fix her HMOs and right now, she’s focused sa health niya, I’m the one ‘yung– ako po ‘yung Groomzilla ngayon, ako ‘yung nagha-handle ng lahat ng mga bagay. Kaya medyo nakaka-pressure, nakaka-stress, but it’s the details that count na, ‘Okay, ako na ang bahala. Relax ka lang diyan.'”
When asked about their wedding, Domingo responded, “The wedding will happen sa takdang panahon.”
As for his new PIE Channel program, Domingo joined the team as their newly introduced game master alongside Luis Manzano and Eric Nicolas.
Manzano hosts the exciting mystery game show ‘Tamang Hinala,’ starting September 9. Domingo takes on the game show of the eagle-eyed viewers, ‘Watchawin,’ on September 11 at 8:15 PM, and Nicolas joins the recently launched ‘Pindot PIEnalo‘s program filled with classic perya games, ‘Mukhang Perya’ with its roster of hosts.
