GMA News pillar and multi-awarded broadcast journalist Mike Enriquez has died.
Veteran TV host and radio broadcaster Mike Enriquez passed away at the age of 72 on Tuesday, August 29.
Several Kapuso reporters reacted with sadness on Instagram after Arnold Clavio posted a candle in the dark with a caption of three signal tear emojis.
Mike Enriquez’s name immediately trended on X (formerly Twitter) as netizens assumed he was the subject of the post. The Kapuso veteran journalist had been a victim of death hoaxes multiple times.
After undergoing a kidney transplant in 2021, Enriquez returned on air in March 2022, just in time for the national elections coverage. However, he later took a leave of absence.
Mike Enriquez was a respected figure in the Philippines’ media industry, known for his integrity and dedication to delivering news to the Filipino people. His contributions to journalism made him a beloved and trusted personality in the country.
Enriquez is survived by his wife, Lizabeth Baby Yumping, and their two children.
