Host-comedian and talent manager Ogie Diaz recently shared his perspective on the ongoing predicament of controversial drag queen Pura Luka Vega.
In a tweet posted on Friday, August 25, Diaz offered advice to Vega, suggesting that issuing a genuine public apology could potentially help mitigate the array of legal cases they might face.
Diaz’s tweet was prompted by a news article detailing the drag queen’s efforts to gather financial support in anticipation of upcoming legal battles.
Mama Ogs conveyed, “Even other drag queens don’t understand your point, teh. Public apology ka na lang for now. Sincerely. Para magaan sa pukiramdam.”

For several weeks now, Pura has found themselves at the center of controversy due to her provocative “Ama Namin” drag performance. Subsequent to this perceived “blasphemous” act, numerous cities, municipalities, and provinces have designated Pura as “Persona Non Grata.”
Aside from the persona non grata declarations by local government units, Pura Luka Vega is also contending with criminal charges initiated by the Philippines for Jesus Movement, a coalition of Christian organizations.
Furthermore, Hijos Del Nazareno Central, representing dedicated followers of the Black Nazarene in the Philippines, has formally lodged a complaint against Pura Luka Vega with the Manila Regional Trial Court.
In response to these circumstances, Pura turned to social media to solicit support for their impending legal battle.
Through an Instagram post on Thursday, August 24, Pura appealed to their followers and supporters for financial contributions. The post read, “WE’RE GOING TO COURT. And we need your help more than ever. Swipe left to see the GCash QR code — your donations will go to Luka’s family and transpo/food for their court dates this September. Please add in the notes FOR LUKA when sending your support,” Pura wrote.
“Airfunding donations are currently postponed and we’re asking you to spread this word,” they added.
