On August 5, broadcast journalist and host Korina Sanchez advised the newlyweds Arjo Atayde and Maine Mendoza on how the couple should address political issues.
At the media event for ‘Tiktalks’ Season 2, which LionhearTV covered, Sanchez advised Atayde to be proactive and get ahead of the story.
She also noted that Mendoza should not be ‘fighting’ his battles.
“This is also what I’ve learned, a lie often repeated becomes the truth, so in this day and age, if you stay quiet, you become guilty. And if you don’t get ahead of the narrative– it becomes the reality. (I believe) that Arjo should be very pro-active in proving that it isn’t true. It shouldn’t be Maine–for me. So it’s all about the proof–and you don’t have to say anything.”
Earlier, Mendoza addressed an online report from a publication, claiming that her honeymoon trip with her husband was part of Atayde’s official trip as vice chairperson of the House special committee on the creative industry and performing arts.
She then highlighted her experience when she and her husband, Mar Roxas, were newlyweds, and she had to refrain from speaking out against her partner’s detractors.
“When I met Mar, he’s already in power, and he stayed there in different capacities–different offices for 25 years, and he ran four times. So parang ilang kampanya na ‘yan etsetera. Mar is the type that he doesn’t like–I’m talking about us. Mar does not like that his wife defends him. His principle is that I can (defend) myself, so nobody, especially not my wife, has to (defend) me.
“Eh ako medyo patolera ako ng bata. ‘Why, I can go to town, gusto kong bombahin lahat.’ So ayaw niya talaga. So malaking bahagi ng buhay ko ako’y pigil at binusalan, but really for good, wise reason, because everytime na nakaka-alagwa ako, pinapatawag ako sa principal’s office ng ABS-CBN.
“I think that’s wise, for us, because somebody has to keep the peace at house. When your husband comes home, it would be good to be in a different planet. And that’s how it is with us, Mar and myself.”
She also recounted the struggles she and Roxas faced during their wedding during typhoon Ondoy.
“Earlier, Mendoza addressed an online report from a publication, claiming that her honeymoon trip with her husband was part of Atayde’s official trip as vice chairperson of the House special committee on creative industry and performing arts.”
As for the Second Season of ‘Tiktalks,’ the hosts Korina Sanchez, Pat-P Daza, G3 San Diego, Kakai Bautista, and Alex Calleja continue their banter-filled and insightful discussion of various topics every Sunday on TV5.
